A warm welcome
Welcome to our homepage, which will give you a first insight into our school life. The focus of our school is to teach European educational standards and to develop and strengthen personal, professional, and social skills. We aim to provide students with an excellent and holistic educational experience so that they become confident and independent individuals and fellow human beings and develop a deeper understanding of German and Nigerian culture.
The German School comprises a kindergarten, a pre-school, a primary school, and a lower secondary school. We currently teach according to the competence-oriented, German Thuringian curriculum and are guided by the educational standards applicable in Germany. We also offer an English stream based on the British National Curriculum (reception andgrades 1-6).
Our school hours are Monday to Friday from 07:45 to 12:45. During the one-hour lunch break from 12:45 to 13:45, we offer a meal from Monday to Friday. From Monday to Thursday from 13:45 to 14:30 there is also voluntary homework supervision, after which we offer a range of AGs until 16:00. A transport service (school bus) is available for our students.
Environment and equipment
Our school is located on a secure company-owned campsite in the north- western part of the Nigerian capital. Since the company employees and some other families live in the life camp, the school is easily and quickly accessible for them and works self-sufficiently from Nigerian structures. Moreover, the outdoor facilities can also be used in the evenings and at weekends.
In addition to the main building, which is grouped around the schoolyard, our school also has an annex with its small schoolyard. The schoolyards are equipped with playground equipment for breaks and leisure activities. Furthermore, we have a swimming pool, a sports field, and a youth center with outdoor facilities at the camp, which are used for teaching purposes such as sports and swimming lessons, break times, and extra-curricular activities (AGs).
In addition to the 10 classrooms, there are 4 specialist rooms for art/ work, computer science, music, and science. Furthermore, we have a student library, a teachers’ room, a headmaster’s room, another office, a coffee kitchen, storage rooms, and the necessary sanitary facilities.
In addition to the computer room, many classrooms are equipped with computer workstations; fixed media stations, as well as beamers and multi-projection devices with screens, are also installed in the classrooms. We have an internet connection and wireless internet access in all rooms.
